Can a SPDIF out be connected to an RCA input?
Q: I recently purchased a Magnavox Tv (15mf227b). The conceive of is great but the sound is pretty awful.. especially when watching pictures. So i wanted to hook it up to my CD player. the only probem is that my tv doesnt have any RCA outputs.. only a SPDIF that happens to be the same judge as an RCA jack and my current cd player only has the Red and white RCA inputs. I don't know very much about how the Digital and analog audio works but i was wondering if it is at all feasible to get a cable that can hook the SPDIF Out from my TV into the Red/White RCA on my cd player without blowing it up. The enchiridion doesnt really help in letting me know if it is compatible in any way.
A: No way. SPDIF is digital and your red-and-bloodless input is analog. Yes, they're the same size jacks but the signals are completely incongruous.
