A: I freakin' dear one my Panasonic 50pz850u. It was either this or the Pioneer Kuro, but the Panasonic looked so good, and had a more affordable price tag. It looks grand for video games, sports, and especially blu-ray movies. I think that to get an LCD that looks even secure to this good, I would have to spend several thousand dollars more. I say pull the trigger.
Should I buy an extended warranty plan for a plasma TV?
Q: I intend on purchasing a Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ850U from the Abe's of Maine online store, however, I'm wondering if it is worth purchasing a 3 year stretched out warranty plan for $249 as well. Does anyone know how long the building's warranty is? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: In terms of see in the mind's eye quality the best picture quality is OLED. But an 11" OLED payout $2500. So its not really consumer ready yet. But its coming and eventually will be the go to acceptance. But since that's years away still, don't worry about it.
After that Plasma is king in quality. You get the most appropriate image quality, the best colors, the best contrast, and the superb blacks. Also, Plasma technology inherently has near instantaneous restock times (much like CRT/tubes of the past). LCD does not and thus suffers from shifting blur problems (ghost trails behind fast moving images). That's why LCDs have to make known and offer 120Hz and 240Hz options, to try and catch up to Plasma. And also they now put on the market LED backlighting, also to catch up to Plasma in blacks. But you pay a HUGE premium for those features.
But you should teach your Plasma. For the first 100-200 hours of use crank the brightness and contrast (epitome) settings way down. Then after that point go ahead and optimize and enjoy your top notch TV viewing contact.
In Plasma, Pioneer Kuro Elite and Pioneer Kuro are the overpower of the best. They have no real rival in quality. But they cost a fortune. Also they are a expiring breed. Pioneer has said it is leaving the TV business.
Next up is Samsung and Panasonic Viera. Both companies intimate extremely high quality Plasma HDTVs. You wouldn't be in bad cut going with either. The Panasonic Viera's are a bit better of a line though. The model you mention is the 800/850 series, which is the flagship from Panasonic. These have acknowledged the Pioneers a run for their money. They didn't beat the Pioneers, but they proved themselves incredibly moving.
LCDs are the everyman HDTV. They are cost effective. They are good at smaller sizes and as extra TVs for sure. And they certainly are getting better. But the better ones sell for too much right now. Eventually those features will come down to the base priced ones, but until that happens, the technology is honourable simply inferior.
That doesn't mean you can't get great viewing experiences from LCD TVs. You most indisputably can. They are not bad by any means. And sometimes they can be a more suitable choice for some people. But I think for you, you will have a great viewing judgement from the Panasonic Plasma.
