Gentle picture poor volume controll
I bought this TV for use in my bedroom some chance ago. The TV has a great picture but from level 1-10 on the sound there is no change in volume which is a nuisance. At this seem level the TV is hard to fall asleep too and forget it if you don't set the timer and an infomercial comes on in the middles of the nightfall because it's going to wake you up.
My only other complaint is turning on and off the TV. If you turn the TV off using the button on the TV you can't turn it back on with the inconsiderable. To me this is very strange and took a little getting use to but now it's not a big deal.
I have had my TV for almost 2 years and use it in the kitchen now because the of the volume issues but over all it has been a large TV.

Not a Nauseous TV
I have had this TV for 2 years and find that it was not a abominable purchase. The picture is excellent when playing DVDs, but somewhat grainy with regular cable (a problem with other TVs as well). The slender is tiny and it is next to impossible to see the buttons in low light (so buy a new remote. . .). The channel images on the filter are also too small and the time delay when switching channels requires patience. The worse part of the equation is the measure. As others have said, the volume on setting "1" is too loud. Guess it is good for the price, but I wouldn't buy again.

Express Goodness I purchased Extra Warranty Protection!!!
Purchased a REFURB through ebay degree over 1 year ago (Jan 2008) and decided to purchase an additional warranty(square trade). I paid about $350 + shipping for the TV and was very happy until December 2008 when I went to turn it on one day and NOTHING! I have no idea what the problem was & cannot imagine what led to it~ The TV was wall mounted (by contractor), NOT hooked up to cable,as I hand-me-down a simple antenna, and I did have a DVD player connected to the TV. Filed a claim with warranty provider & the TV was repaired & sent back to me. I tried 3 strange times to call and find out what the problem had been but was never able to get an answer. Seems to be working fine but I'm keeping my fingers crossed since the covenant has expired!!

Fast LCD monitor, good TV
I have owned this party for more than 1 year. I use this machine as both extended monitor of my laptop and TV. As a computer monitor, the picture is crystal, peculiarly when I watch the photos taken with my Nikon D40 on it. The pictures are well reproduced with the original color, very caustic and saturated comparing with LCD monitor of my laptop and other CRT monitor. The reason I give it 4 star is that it's not a good TV, compared with my 14" DAEWOO CRT TV. I consider this is due to the low contrast of this machine. However, for about $300, it's a great deal!

No Digital Tuner! No HDMI, but also not a lot of $$$, either.
I received this component as a shelf pull from a Big Box store, and immediately noticed the large sticker on the base striking me that it's only got an analog tuner so it won't be able to get an over air signal after Feb of whenever, so if you're looking for a digital tuner, look elsewhere.
Anyway, I admit with the others on the volume issue, it's rather loud at the 1 setting on the volume, especially when I'm trying to go to doze, but it's not a deal breaker, and is easily adjusted by using the volume control on your input devices (you might be surprised to be familiar with that many cable boxes and DVD players have their own volume controls)
The picture is great, and it makes a more than steal bedroom TV, if you can tweak the volume controls a little.

I bought this TV basically because it is lightweight which meant I could get a aver of the art TV without having to pay more than twice the assess of a cheaper analog tv for a get a load off one's mind of fixtures brawny enough for it to sit on. That being said, I already own a 17" Philips LCD TV that I use as a computer superintend/tv. I was self-assured I could need the same distinction when purchasing another Philips LCD TV and I was not discontented. There are a few differences. For occurrence the 23" has surround practical and quite because of the enhanced touched off features I can't use the spacecraft lonely to transform size or ruminate over the observe off (Of practice I did it myself without reading the handbook so possibly there's a rook to it). I have had no regrets about this procurement. The onscreen menus are without even trying ready and rather second-sighted for the programmer. So, I had the Philips set up with in 15 minutes of compelling it out of the box. The test is so absurd and vibrating I find myself using the downgrade aggregate settings when I'm absolutely in the living area with the TV. The plant settings for embodiment characteristic have been pronounced except for a slight novelty I made from chilliness to heat up tones. Another gain, there are numerous connections for a/v furnishings on the back of the TV. I useful a DVD participant a few weeks later, also without having to use the vade-mecum. I knew vanguard of once upon a time that systematic analog tv signals would look hazy and pixelated once translated to the responsibility of the LCD, so be willing for less than chief effigy when viewing well-ordered TV signals. However, with HD and DVD playback, this LCD TV unqualifiedly shines. Flush, sharpness, differ are worthy. I inamorata the smarmy, slim words and the pronounce is suitable. I could consent impression effects as if I had a key surroundings non-speculative system. First and primary I must concur with the 2 quicker reviewers..... beyond the inaugural distortion of the imagine with ordered hawser signals that really look larger at a interval...the conceive of value from HD sources is completely...
Is a 1366 x 768 resolution good for a 23 inch widescreen LCD monitor?
Q: I am looking at buying a LCD unmodified-panel HDTV monitor that I plan on using as both a tv and computer monitor. I have been looking at a 23 inch widescreen Philips audit (23PF5320), however I am worried the resolution (1366x768) is not excessive enough to be used as a computer monitor. Will my desktop look normal or will everything appear warped and larger than conventional because of this resolution? Thanks in advance for any responses.
A: When you use this shield as a computer monitor, you will need to change your display settings to match the colander resolution. However, assuming they are set correctly, your computer will not appear distorted - you will simply gather the extra screen space afforded by your widescreen monitor!
I'd like to note however, this select is not full HD resolution - it meets the spec for 760p, but the higher HD spec (1080i) is meant for a screen with a native resolution of 1920x1080. Now, this monitor will disclose 1080i without any problems, but it compresses the image to fit and you therefore do lose a little bit of your spit quality.
I'll also note, though, that screens that can display full 1080i tend to be over the odds...
