It has a traditional dvd player that upconverts standard dvds from 480p to 1080i. if you perception in the tv description, it says both the hdmi and components support up to 1080i.
When we hooked up the tv last dusk to the surround system, we didnt have an hdmi cable to hook up the surround shape, but we hooked up the dvd player of the surround sound with a cable that i think is called a composite cablegram. It has teh red, white, and yellow tips to the ends.
What do we need to do to get the dvd player and tv match at full 1080i? The picture last night didnt look great at all, i was very let down. Is it because we used the composite cables? Would the hdmi take care of this?
oh, and yes, the tv and dvd player on the ring sound have hdmi inputs
A: Your 37" LCD can only fortify resolution of up to 720 (Horizontal scan lines), so 1080i output is not relative. However, your new Sony Bravia Sound System IS capable of outputing 720P words thru the HDMI output located on the back of the Sound System. The only way to get DVD images filmed at 480 words to be "Converted" to near HDTV quality, you difficulty to purchase a new HDMI Cable. Do NOT buy a cheap cable, as your weakest tie-in is your connection (Cheap cable = cheap picture), spend a itty-bitty extra on Monster Brand cables. The "Free" composite cables that came your where one lives stress theatre sound system only carry 480 lousy NON HDTV words of resolution. (remember-weakest link) I own a similar Sony Hallucinate System, I have run an HDMI cable, and the Image is stunning on my 37" Hitachi LCD (Almost like HDTV!). Sony has one of the upper crust Video "Scalers" in the industry, and does a momentous job at converting regular DVD's (Filmed at 480 lines) into 720 words of "Simulated" High definition. Good voice in product, now go out and get the cable, rent "300" tonight, and get high on the ride. You'll be BLOWN AWAY!
