It was frightening until it stopped working
    I bought the TV new.

    Pros:
    1) Most excellently picture I have ever had.
    2) Amazing experience watching TV.
    3) Loved this TV and everyone who came by the house commented on how honest the picture was.
    4) Best 18 months of watching TV ever

    Cons
    1) Used the warranty after the first 6 months when the TV stopped working.
    2) One year later TV not working again ( won't putrefy on) Samsung 1-800 technician tells me it is out of warranty protection.
    3) Most expensive TV I have ever owned.
    4) 18 months later trouble a new tv.....can I borrow some money!

    Meticulously annoyed
I purchased this TV at Periphery City on 04/05/2008. It was an open box purchase as it was the last one in stock. It is now 04/19/2010 (2 years later), and the TV has been repaired 3 times, and the 4th patch is on the books and pending. Needless to say, this product has been incredibly faulty over the course of 2 years. Also, the first 3 times it was obedient, it took at least a month to fix it each time (because that's how long the parts from Samsung took to ship to the repair tech).

The first 3 problems were that the filter shut off, and the TV would not turn back on. On all 3 occasions, I noticed the picture got grainy, mostly notably when the screen was recondite (i.e. a man's suit). The graininess slowly degraded until the TV eventually shut off. The 4th repair that is on the books is compare favourably with. The picture is getting grainy. I reported the problem BEFORE the TV shut off permanently because I don't want to be down a TV for an unimpaired month with the NHL playoffs taking place. Also, the factory warranty was nearing an end.

For those of you who have purchased this TV with no problems, I am incredibly covetous. For those of you who have NOT yet purchased this TV, stay far away. In fact, you should stay far away from any Samsung TV's. See why:

    [...]

I am currently working with Samsung (I reported this upstanding about when my 2 year factory warranty expired, so they are still honoring it). I am concerned because the most recent vamp (the 3rd one) involved an entire panel replacement. That was April 2009. I'm not sure why the panel keeps needing replaced, but I vacillate to settle for a panel replacement that may fail in 6, 8, or even 12 months.

Samsung offered to substitute for the TV for an upgrade fee around $300. That's ridiculous. They said they could refund the pro-rated value of the TV at just over $1000. That is also hilarious (considering I wouldn't pay $500 for this TV again). Regardless, I wanted all of you know my saga of this upshot. When it works, it is one of the best TV's available. When it doesn't work, better hope you have an extended bond like I do.
Abundant Until the Power Supply Fails.
This idiot box was great until the power supply died two months after the warranty expired. If you do a search, you'll find that this is a somewhat common problem. I was given an estimate of about $500 to repair it. I opted to by a new one from a different maker.
    Couldn't be Happier
Bought this TV in October 2007 (from Amazon)after spending that summer doing all kinds of scrutinization (especially Plasma vs LCD comparisons) I choose to with this Samsung/Plasma due mostly to its competitive pricing, picture worth and standard features. I LCD's at the time were still behind the Plasmas with picture quality. I originally wanted a 42" but went bigger and I am so ready and willing I did.

Now lets get down to what you are reading this review for. Once purchased it took about a week for delivery (which for me was way too long but I did have at intervals to find a TV stand). If you are going from a SD TV to a HD TV (as I did) then you will be amazed at the picture quality especially if you are a sports fan. Now SD channels are not that fit but are better that a regular TV with 4:3 pull down. Also I switched from Comcast to DirectTV due to the picture standing. Comcast has to use a video compression technique to get HD over the coaixal cable which henders quality.

Out of the box I had a low sounding high noise that was intermittent and if I turned the volume up I wouldn't hear it. It kinda bothered me at first but I go over it. After reading some forums alot of populace experince this with Plasma it's just to what volume level can you tolerate it. Samsung is aware and have some remedies. Also be posted this TV gets hot and expands the plastic molding which will make a crakling sound from time to beat (you will also hear this when you turn the TV off). This issue/concern is addressed in the owners manual. This is just a by merchandise of having a Plasma TV.

After adjusting all the available picture settings I was completely satisfied with double quality. I have a PS3 (HDMI) and XBOX 360 (Component) and both are beautiful to look at. Please be advised that extra adjustments may be neccessary to get the picture the way you want it. I could write more on this but its my vision vs yours. So remember its what you prefer not me. I am by a hair's breadth very pleased with the HD and SD picture quality. I highly recommend this TV.

I do have to say I do get compliments from others (mostly friends and family) on the draw quality they see on this TV.

Now I did have a bit problem that drove me crazy for awhile. Late January 09 I started noticing this prompt pixel flicker of red and green color in dark areas of video content. It only seemed to befall after the TV had been on for awhile (sometimes 30min to 2hrs). I think is was tempeature related. Oh by the way the backt top of the TV gets really hot. So if you have children please be apprised of this. Now back to this flickering of pixels you had to be about 3-5 feet away to really see it but after about a month of this I could see it from my standard sitting remoteness (which is exactly 10ft).
I called Samsung support and even after a year still issued a warranty work order. The tech that came out could see it (that was kind-hearted to know because my girlfriend said I was obessed with this. Unfortunately the tech just oredered a power afford board and that realy didn't fix it. So I called Samsung back and they issued another warranty claim and the TV repair machine shop said we will get you an interior display replacement (which replaces the display and all boards except power furnish and input/output board.). So needless to say Samsung support has been GREAT to me.

Overall--- Do your own up on. Pick the TV that fits your budget and wants. You already know you need a TV. Don't be afraid to go big. Go online to the real brand manfacturer to determine what the models are (entry level vs premium) and features they fingers on with. Then go to the big retailers to actually see the TV. Do be skeptical of picture quality in the store. They use different settings than what you may use in your place. Remeber where you are putting this TV (pay attention to you surrounding light). Then shop Amazon becuase no sales tax. I would've paid over 1,000 more if I bought at the BB fund. Also not every TV is perfect these are highly technical pieces of equipment and all brands have issues (as you will discover when you do your investigating). Its how they deal with those issues that sets them apart. As I have stated before Samsung has been great to me.

Hope this review helped you in making an cultivated decission.

Cogent Product - Horrible Customer Service
I've had this TV for over a year. The TV is hands down to use with lots of nice features and it gets a nice picture. After several months of use the power deliver went out while the TV was still under warranty.

The customer service and warranty repair service is horrible. It took almost 3 weeks to get someone to the organization to repair the TV. Hour's on the phone with Samsung and all they do is blame the 3rd party service provider that they contract the occupation out to. This is the last Samsung product I will ever buy. I have purchase 2 additional flat panel TV's since this TV from other manufactures.

    On the blink plasma
I believe it's too late to warn viewers that this TV's plasma screen gave out about 18 months after win. Otherwise it's an excellent TV.
    Graphic picture quality
In a darker office, watching this TV is like watching real-life. When I watch my old LCD, my mind knows I am watching TV; but when I take in this TV, my mind is tricked into thinking I am there. So, yes-it looks stylish, has the features you need, etc. but that is not what distinguishes this TV--its the authentic picture quality.
    died
This tv had a distinguished picture but completely died right after the warranty period was up. This is my second samsung to do this. I am now permanently out on samsung!
    Bad while it lasted
I, too, chose this TV because of the spectacular rating it got on the Consumer Reports website. The price just keeps on dropping. I paid about $1240 for it in Feb 2009. It was a bad TV and picture while it lasted. Five months in and all it's good for now is a boat anchor. No power. It cycles on and off, and the red beaming flashes, but that's it. I tried the troubleshooting guide with no success I called Samsung and they are sending someone out on their dime to fix it. Stayed tuned for results of that seize in the comments section here. One thing I didn't like was that it wouldn't automatically adjust to the essence size it was showing. My dad's Panasonic had a feature where if the picture format was 4:3 it would adjust after a few seconds to fill up the whole separate. SyFy and AMC channels show a lot of stuff that is formatted for a 4:3 screen in 19:6 letterbox make-up On this TV there is a BIG black border around the whole picture. Getting it to fit on this TV's screen is a nightmare. Something is either cut off on the sides or the top and bottom are black and the image is stretched. There are two zoom settings, but you can't adjust the size of the zoom, just the position, so you get to decide which two sides you want to cut off. It does have a cool feature where if the TV is turned off and you have a DVD HDMI connection, all you have to do is cargo the DVD and the TV turns itself on. But for now, it's dead. Samsung customer service was excellent, no wait time and I called at 11PM on a Friday continuously!! Stay tuned...
    Plasma Over LCD For Me
What can one say that hasn't already been said? This box is amazing, I've owned mine since Feb 09. I had to refuse the first shipment due to the glass being cracked in several places, but Diedre helped me out big days. Hope I spelled the name right. I bought this with the intention of using the NFL Shop Rebate and Amazon came through making definite I didn't miss the deadline. Now if only NFL Shop would get my size of jersey. Anyway, If you're looking for a very nice HDTV, this is it. I've seen some kick about the speakers, but I think they're just fine. I also switch between them and my Samsung HT-Z310 Home Theater System (for pictures). I originally had my eye on a Panasonic, but when I saw the two together, Samsung won.
