Choosing between a sharp and a philips lcd hdtv. Help!?
Q: I am looking at a brace of tv's, a philips 32pfl5322d, and a sharp lc-32sh12u. Both are 32 inch lcd's, and they are about the same price, 750-800. the water spec differences i can see are that the philips has 3200:1 contrast, while the sharp has 1200:1 conflict, and the sharp has a response time of 6ms while the philips has 8ms. the philips is slightly brighter.
i will on the whole be using it to watch tv (sd for now, maybe ill get hd in a little bit), xbox 360, and dvds (i only have upconverting, no hd dvd or blu ray)
Which tv is advantage? are the contrast ratio and response time differences significant?

A: Philips/Magnavox (same mfg.) have had serious reliability problems. Most here will tumulus you to stay away form this brand. I would go with the Sharp, without any questions - but beware Sharp has had some banding questions that the mfg. doesn't seem to crave to face up to under warranty. If it were me, I'm be looking at Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi.

~I should have put this theme first because it is the most important one. Fact is you buy cheap expect cheap. Don't expect it to last very fancy.
I would (am) saving up for a better model. If you want a 32inch I would actually set forward a Toshiba over the Sharp and Sony. (Not that Sharp and Sony are not good - they are great BUT) Toshiba has in effect pioneered the LCD.
