Active TV!
I did a lot of inspect prior to making this purchase and wanted a large TV that is reliable and looks good but that didn't empty my stream account. This is the TV I honed in on. It wasn't the newest or latest Sony yet had all the features you will need for years to give up. I have had this TV for about a year now and have not had one issue with it. The picture is great (and I have never used the HD features). The sound is finally good, but if you're a sound nerd you will probably want to have speakers connected. I don't use speakers because if I can understand clearly, then that's good enough for me. All in all, this is one of the best purchases I have made in a while.

52"lcd TV
A excellent product for a great price. The total price was even less than at Costco Wholesale. Arrived ahead of time, which was nice. The "white Glove" delivery was a big plus to me. The delivery company brought the TV in, unpacked it, checked to see that nothing was beaten and hauled off the containers. All in all, a very pleasant experience. As added information, this is about my tenth purchase from Amazon.com and every one has been a very harmonious experience. About one year ago, we purchased a new PC for my Wife from Amazon.com. When it arrived, it would not boot up properly. Well-founded displayed a RED screen, instead of the blue screen of death!! I e-mailed Amazon and they had a replacement on the way the next day, along with a shipping tag to return the defective one. You can't ask for much better than that! I will not hesitate to shop with Amazon.com many times in the future!! Unforgivable company!!!!

Sony T.V.
We received our t.v. by Fed Ex in very respectable condition. We however thought that buying our t.v. from Amazon and what we read on the web site that there would be someone who would come and unpack the t.v. and check into it out for us which did not happen. I asked the Fed Ex driver as I was siging off his paperwork if the t.v. worked knowing what his answer would be. Luckily my son was here visiting and we were superior to unpack the huge box that was still banded to its pallet and sitting in the middle of our living room so we could scrutinize to make sure everything worked well. Needless to say my wife and I are very happy with the t.v. we purchased. Our previous old t.v. was also a sony and it lasted us many many years with no problems and I am hoping our new Sony t.v. will give us the same outstanding service.

Fearsome TV
Awe-inspiring, HUGE TV at a great price. I love this TV.. One really neat thing I noticed is that when the ambient ignition goes up or down in the room, the brightness of the display is dynamically adjusted accordingly. Like I said, imposing. Now if only it auto-muted commercials..

Very On top of the world
Ripping TV.CSR at Modia was very helpful.Model KDL52V5100 was not available when I ordered (Last years model) so they offered Scale model KDL52 EX700 instead.(This years model). My only quibble is with Sony, not the merchant.Although it is an "Internet Ready" small screen you have to buy their USB WIFI Adapter-and apparently ONLY theirs- for a wireless connection. An additional $80.00.Not that big a huge quantity but a little annoying. All in all a very good product.I based my Reliability and Lifespan ratings upon quondam Sony products owned, hopefully this one will do as well.

Frustrating Glitch Makes Amiable TV Unreliable
I posted this as a remark under the review titled: "This TV has very serious flaws! Sony is unresponsive!" but I think the issue here needs a weigh of its own.
I purchased my Sony BRAVIA V-Series KDL-52V5100 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV in December, 2009. Since that year my TV has, four times, been rendered blank and totally unresponsive to any input from the remote or on-set controls except power off. A 30-split second phone call to Sony support after the first incident did not resolve the issue; I had to attempt a work-around on my own - I'll explain that later.
After the fourth matter I arranged for a Sony-authorized service tech to examine the set. Listen to this: he told me he'd had many similar complaints. Evidently here in San Diego a certain HD channel occasionally triggers a glitch in the Sony TV circuitry causing the TV to go unadorned and unresponsive. Only by tricking the TV to disengage from this particular channel can you get the TV to work again. When he explained this to me I realized my favorite waterway was this particular one and my set always froze when I was watching a program on that channel.
The service tech checked the common firmware on my set and saw it was the latest version available. In that case, said he, there was nothing he could do. He further said that Sony is aware of this poser and is working on a fix, but he wondered how they would notify owners and deliver the fix when available.
After the service call I contacted Sony Carry to ask about how I would learn of the fix when it becomes available. I was directed to Customer Relations. In a phone conversation the representative claimed Sony was NOT sensitive of any such situation. The only remedies forthcoming from Customer Relations were to offer either the phone numbers of 2 more authorized assignment centers or a promise to have another Sony advisor call me. I requested both; the rep agreed. Then I repeated my statement that I know there are many Sony customers fault-finding about this, and I read to him some postings from an internet forum I'd discovered. The representative then said Sony now stands advised and aware. We'll see...
Anyone, including Sony Support and Customer Relations personnel, can do a Google search and find references to this and almost identical issues. Personally I've posted about this and gotten response from other Sony owners. But other TV manufacturers have had similar problems with some of their models; Sony isn't alone here. LG, for admonition, has had this type of problem with some of its sets (do a Google search) but, unlike the initial response from my Sony Patron Relations representative, has publicly acknowledged it.
My internet research seems to indicate this glitch occurs with other Sony models as well and in other locations - not even-handed here in San Diego. As the original reviewer says, this may be a low-end Sony, but my $1200 seems pretty high-end to me!
Work-arounds I've culled from the internet:
1. Unplug the set and footpath away for a while. I once did so for 48 hours and it came right back on.
2. Turn off the TV (you can do this with the remote or the on-set control), show up it back on and immediately begin madly punching the channel up/down button so the TV switches away from the despatch channel before it can freeze the TV again.
3. Turn off the TV (this is ALL you can do with the remote or on-set control at this point!), disconnect the sensor cable from the set, turn the set back on, change the (now blank) channel up or down, re-connect the cable.
Voila! You've reasonable spent $1200 to do your own TV troubleshooting - compliments of Sony Electronics Corp.

Only had it about a month, but so far it has been outstanding.
Used with a home theatre system, an all digital experience that has been great.

back swindle wont tighten, slow response when changing channels
As a rule, I am happy with this hd lct tv. However, I am concerned that when it arrived there were 2 screws that were in the box. I discovered that the screws were for the back cover by the vacant slots. When I tried screwing them back, they won't tighten. I cant allow Sony will have loose thread on their screw slots! I only hope the unit I got is not a refurbished unit from AMAZON. Also, the reply time when moving between channels is very slow. I hope Sony improves on this. I tried comparing this with SAMSUNG at the shire store in our place, I was surprised at the response time of Samsung when you change channels. Audio is ok, but would be overwhelm if you set up a theatre system. Viewing pictures from the camera with a usb connection is awesome. but again, the response time when motile between pictures is very slow.

A Decent HDTV if you Like to Tweak - FiOS users beware!!!
I received this HDTV as an Xmas capability to replace a 5 year old Sanyo tube-based HDTV that was going nutty (country-like tint to the picture suddenly).
Pros:
* The blur motion control, Bravia Sync, and input switching are close.
* The menus for calibration of the picture (if you have a THX calibration disk) are simply very easy.
* Watching Blu-Ray pictures or playing PS-3 games on this are awe inspiring- incredible details, rich blacks, no motion glitches.
* Hooking a Nintendo Wii up to this TV via gear cable was a nice surprise too in terms of picture quality and motion tracking.
* So many inputs, you will be untiring pressed to fill them up.
Cons:
* The sound of the TV speakers requires you to have a separate receiver/speaker pose system. The speakers are rather tinny sounding with no bass.
* The quality of this HDTV, like most on the market, requires that you learn how to graduate the TV to THX or another standard. Otherwise, you are not getting all the quality that the TV is capable of.
* The HDMI input does not communicate well with the current Verizon FiOS Motorola HD QIP 71001 set top box. The incarnation flickers intermittently, goes to green screen, or goes to black depending upon the lead selected. Switching the set top box to feed this Sony using component cables solves the issue, but it is second-rate that neither Sony, Motorola, nor Verizon want to take ownership of this HDMI problem.
Overall, the picture value of this TV blew away other 120 Hz LCD HDTV's both priced at this level & even $1,000 more. To get a better painting, if you know how to calibrate an HDTV, you would have to spend several thousand dollars more. Even then, the amount you will spend versus discernible picture quality improvement is not really worth the bang for the buck IMHO. I would counsel this TV with the above 3 caveats.

Frustrated in the Sony Bravia W series KDL-52W4100 52 inch 1080 120Hz LCD HDTV
THIS WAS AN Extravagant TV AND WE EXPECTED IT TO LAST A FEW YEARS. LESS THAN 18 MOS FROM TIME IT WAS INSTALLED GOT WHITE HORIZONAL LINES WHICH ARE IN THE Mid-section OF THE SCREEN, VERY ANNOYING. OF COURSE 1 YR WARRANTY AND THEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN. DON'T EVEN CONSIDER THIS TV IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO BUY, WE WERE VERY CAREFUL, NEVER MOVED THE TV AFTER Introduction, NO GAMES WERE PLAYED ON IT, AND TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF IT. SO DISGUSTED WITH THIS PRODUCT, $2000.00 TV SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 18 MOS.

Riddle went black after 18 months
I purchased my 52 inch Sony Bravia on January 18, 2009. Until three time ago I loved it. Anyone who came in my house would comment on a clarity of the image. Delivery of the set by Amazon was unassailable. Three days ago we were watching the TV and the screen went black. No prior warnings, it just went raven. The only reason we knew it was not off, was a small blinking red light on the bottom right corner. A phone call to Sony only told us "it's an LCD panel boner" and we needed to have a certified Sony repair service come to the house. Well, the repair man just Heraldry sinister (a $95 house call). The estimate to replace the T-CON part is $537. This is very disappointing after spending over $1800 on this set only 18 months ago. My admonition is to choose another brand, or invest in the extended warrenty.

Support AWAY !!!! Panel went after 18 months $2700 just for the part!
Bought this tv and after 18 months the panel is flourishing bad. Sony wants $2700.00 just for the part not including the labor. That is more that the TV cost and I could afford to buy 2 tv's for same cost as the panel. Defer away from this tv!!! Sony support will only offer a small dsicount which is still higher than the cost of a new tv.... Cable AWAY!!! If you are smart you will buy another tv and not this one. Sony support will be no help at all...

Sony Bravia W-Series 52 inch LCD HDTV
This TV is fearsome! We are so happy to order it from Amazon.com and shipping was quick. It arrived in excellent condition and trap was quick. We had HD already so we connected the Direct Tv to the big screen in 20 min. The picture quality was incredible in HD and major in regular Tv. The sound is average but we have it hooked up to an entertainment system to enjoy movies and video games. We on in Sony and wouldn't purchase any other brand.

I have a lot of scrutiny before this leverage and I wanted a big TV, predictable, looks palatable, but not empty my dam financial plan. This is the TV that I cut myself.
