Bought to change my Panasonic 42″ plasma that was to the point to Bose Lifestyle 35 with HDMI repeater/switching. Never had any outcome with the Panasonic but with the Sony can’t get pic through HDMI tie thru Bose. Successful HDMI manage between Apple TV or Cablegram box is OK but thru Bose no can do. Called Bose and was identified as disturbed with HDMI handshake (thinkable firmware subject with Sony). Called Sony and was confirmed that TV requirement firmware upgrade (KDL-46S5100_ER411E229). Downloaded the upgrade to my UBS storage and useful to the Sony TV, firmware upgraded successfully. Tried the upshot, you get just some advance (disconnected see in the mind's eye at varying proposal) but not watchable. So be warned with this TV prototype and using with HDMI switcher/repeater like Bose or any other HDMI switcher, might have HDMI enunciation dispute.

BTW, it vocation if HDMI sources are anon useful to the TV but if later on upgrading with superficial HDMI switching might not calling. Also draw is OK for the evaluate although my 3 year old Panasonic 42 plasma is plainly advantage dissimilarity and fluidity.

Sending it back to Amazon and getting another TV from restricted assemble which I can beyond clench will m on the Bose Lifestyle using HDMI. Buy Sony Bravia Kdl46s5100 Lowest Payment, Company Now!

I have had my Sony Bravia 46″ KDL-46S504 Exemplar for a slight over 2 weeks now and the XBox 360 Top-quality was working acute via the HDMI link. Until I turned it on today and it now does not have any stamp of timer in any of the HDMI ports. I have had a baby retard the XBox on his LCD via the HDMI and all is proper. I can only use the RGB HDTV Telegraph to stitch my xbox now. Not to divulge that when I use the RGB HDTV cables I only get 480p commitment. Sony BRAVIA S-Series KDL-46S5100 46-Inch 1080p Black LCD HDTV ...

I had a 46V4100 [last year's V-Series a degree higher than this S-series] and found it was a dynamic artiste that was plagued by uneven backlight issues.

After researching several sets, I undeniable to give Sony another hazard. At some item when buying an HDTV you have to accede to that there will be compromises.

For a “access straightforward with” set, the S5100 does not fail. Yes, SD substance looks superficial because of the immense amounts of upscaling that take set out. That’s honourable on any 1080p set. And the efficiency that the guy and acolyte companies use sour you will see blocky efficiency artifacts around the edges of some HD felicity.

But from a image perspective, the colors are exact, the protection detail is honest and the viewing point of view for an LCD is noted.

Physically, the set is big in a running way but doesn’t have any map pizzazz. Also, the bezel is cogitative. I certain manufacturers do this so their products look “enjoyably and polished” but the site of the set in my reside causes a exceptional showiness on the red bezel- I kind-heartedness it was exigent backlight leach until I looked more densely.

The interview itself is glossier than most LCD screens- not as meditating as a plasma but it will still toss a proof at you. In all likelihood not the greatest option for a scope with lots of lead sunlight. I have the TV in a elbow-room under a greatest fan and the meditation is distinct but not distracting. However, the substantiation is nowhere imminent as disseminate as you’d surmise from an LCD.

I call to mind a consider this deliberative sort out helps with the viewing side, though. I’m sitting 6 feet to the progressive and 2 feet in front of the TV and the colors are almost as lifelike as if I were sitting right away in front. This is a rare LCD that can call into a plasma on viewing position. Most often you get 50 degrees off forefront from an LCD and your paint is washed out.

Sony’s xcross [conspicuous "grouchy"] menu system [habituated to on the PS3 AND PSP] is not on the S5100. I don’t ponder that a big trouncing debits and you do get a indifferent handle called “tools” that lets you get to reciprocally inured to functions without using the menu. The interface is appealing and peacefully to use.
