The 50A61 is a CRT Prognostication TV SET!!
You don't replace LAMPS on it.....you don't replace BULBS either....you make restitution for the red green or blue CRT....you replace the Convergence amps...but no bulbs. At 4 years old, you don't have bad CRTs in MOST cases..You may have a bad convergence amp at 4 years, but not the CRT.
What is extraordinarily going on with your TV set? What does it do and what does it NOT DO??
Problem with TOSHIBA 50A61?
Q: Ocasionally when watching, supine lines appear in the picture. Tapping on the side of the TV makes them go away. Fine kettle of fish is getting worse. The TV is about 5 years old, Im thinking something has worked loose.Any stop would be appreciated, what to do, what not to do, what to look for, what to test?

A: Sounds like RETRACE words....they're spaced about an inch or two apart and are "slightly tilted" not verbatim horizontal....
If so, you need a TV tech to fix this...
He will check the cathode voltages to flee sure they're not dropping lower than 150 Volts and test the separate out control voltages to make sure they're not going over 400 Volts....either place will cause those lines to appear.
Anyways, I don't want you to attempt this, as the 150 Volts HURTS and the 400 Volts can squander skin....
You can find a local TV repairman to do this job.
I have a toshiba 50A61 and I can't adjust the convergence. Is there anyway to do it without the remote?
Q: I have opened the menu and can reach the convergence alternative, but when I try to hit "right" or "volume" on the tv menu, nothing happens. It's quality noting that the option works on different menus, just not the convergence choice. Any help would be very appreciated!
A: Predominantly when the convergence gets off, and it won't let you adjust the convergence chips need to be replaced. If that's the holder then it'll probably cost you around $400 or $500 to have those chips replaced. I'd have a district TV shop come out and take a look at it.
