VIZIO VW42L & JVC TH-D60: How do I hook it up to the Receiver?
Q: My mom's ally asked me to hook up her JVC TH-D60 to her VIZIO VW42L Plasma HDTV.
When I hooked up the TV to the receiver no ruddy comes out of the speakers. I know the speakers are hooked up correctly because when you're playing a DVD or the Crystal set the sound comes out fine.
This is what I did ...
I hooked up the audio cable to the receivers video 2 (input)
Then I took the other end & hooked to the TV's audio result.
And lastly I put the receiver on video 2.
I even tired hook the receiver up to the digital cablegram box; and nothing. What am I doing wrong, or is it just the receiver?
A: My guesstimate is that your tv is set to send audio only through its own speakers. Go into the audio menu and at the bottom, there should be "Encircle" and "Speakers" as the last two options. If "Speakers" is ON, expel it OFF and then the sound should go through the audio output.

Q: What are the most superbly settings for this HDTV> As far as brightness, contrast, color, etc. Also what are the best innovative settings? And does anyone know why when plugged up through the HDMI cable does the representation not fit the entire screen? Maybe someone with the same TV can help. Thanks.
A: Pass in a video test pattern disk. You probably already have one and don't know it. Any DVD with the THX logo on it will have the video check-up patterns (e.g. Disney's Ice Age 2). Go into the setup menu and choose "THX optimizer". You dearth to check your set for contrast, brightness, and color. The brightness and contrast are interactive. Over recall of the intensity of each pixel on your TV as a number from 1-10. If the contrast and brightness is off, you many not get the full collection of intensity your set is capable of. The contrast changes the overall range and the exuberance offsets it. The only compicated part is that each input type (UHF, composite, S-video, Gear, and HDMI) have their own unique calibrations. If you use the disk with test patterns, equitable note what you set it to and change all the other inputs to be similar and check them out - hopefully they'll be the same. On top of that, some sets use unlike unique calibrations for each format (480i, 720p, 1080i, etc.)
Also, you only fill up the partition off to the size of the image being broadcast to you. If you are watching standard broadcast (4:3 = 1.33:1 angle ratio - width is 4/3 times the height) on an HDTV set (16:9 = 1.78:1 interpretation ratio - width is 16/9 times the height) you fill the height up, but the range is bigger than the image so you end up with bars on either side. In the case of movies, which have 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 angle ratios you fill up the width of the 1.78:1 (a.k.a. 16:9) screen with room liberal over on the top and bottom.

Vizio 42" - $946: 1000:1, 1366x768, 8ms, can't find cheeriness specs, 720p or 1080i. Inputs: 2x HDMI video inputs, 2x Part, 1x S-Video, 2x Composite Video, RGB input for computers. Pros & Cons: Magnavox: improved contrast ratio, more inputs, a little more reliable name brand work.Vizio: $50 cheaper, Computer input. Which to buy? Been doing my homework & Vizio has a great illustrate. Seen some great reviews for it. Can't find too many reviews for Magnavox. On a very limited budget. Both sold at Walmart & bid 2 year warranty. Not going plasma. Dark Room - but Sun shines on TV for parts of the day.
